Wink Building ppg.

Hi guys,
I have 95 wrx with ty52 box. Going for a ppg i need the ty54 casing, If i just buy a 54 box and build it into ppg how would i match the diffs? Can i buy diffs to match? or use my ones on the car now, or do you build the gearbox as a hybrid?
Cheers

Steve.

Building the gearbox is best left to someone who is experienced at doing this.
What diff ratio do you want and what diff ratio is in your car now?
The transmission code starting TY752 or TY754 will tell the diff and box ratios.
UK centre viscuous is 1.1:1 Front is 3.9 and rear is 3.545.
That means a 3.545 rear runs with a 3.9 front on a UK car.
Jap cars have 1.0:1 centre diff.
Raios can be 4.44 or 4.11 and sometimes 3.9.
On a Jap car, obviously front and rear must be the same.

I beieve you can fit the PPG kit intot the earlier casing, you just need to order a couple of different bits, mostly to do with syncros when you order the kit.

It seems to be the general wisdom at the moment that the 754 casings are the better optinon though.

a 95 WRX has 4.1 diffs, the only 754 box with a 4.1 is a 99-00 WRX wagon, so sourcing one would be pretty hard.

If you really want a 754 box then best bet it to source a broken UK one with a good 5th (you'd want a longer ratio 5th than the ppg 4th) and also buy the corresponding rear diff
