Hi guys. Any ideas as I am being driven mad buy a whine when I am in 3rd, 5th and slightly in 6th. Now this an ongoing saga. it has been into a subaru dealers on numerous occasions. It has had 3rd and 5th replaced also a new gearbox. whine still there. the car itself is a 55 plate sti and that is not all the problems it has had.

While my wife was driving when we first got it at about 800 miles my wife went to change gear then the gearbox wouldnt let her put it into another gear.this happened at 60mph that wasnt good.

Also not long after that an annoying gear lever rattle developed. this couldnt be fixed so a full unit replaced it rattle stopped not long after that whine starts. Please is their anyone with any answer. as the dealers dont know and I think they are sick of the car as well. Many thanks
