Question

Hi peeps. I'm planning on getting a Power Engineering DP and BB for my P1 and I have a few questions I would be grateful if you experts could help me with:

1. I have been told different things about cats in the standard P1. Is there only a cat in the DP or is there also a cat in the centre section? PE say only in the DP.

2. If there is only a cat in the DP, which I will lose, is there any restriction in the standard centre section? If not and I am happy to have no cat, I guesss there is no point in changing the centre section. Is this right?

3. Equal length manifolds. I like the idea of fitting this. PE say guarantees 25 bhp, I've heard 25-35 bhp from others. Does anyone have any experience of this? If I go for this and the DP is there anything else I should be doing to help the engine deal with the extra bhp? Before you say it, yes I already have uprated brakes, I'm getting the bumpsteer mod done and god I know I need driver training.

Thanks in advance.

If you decide to get the fully decatted exhaust, as well as the headers...get fuelling checked...could be starting to run a tad lean.

Also, doesn't the equal length manifold then lose you the scooby boxer sound?

I believe the P1 centre section is the same as the import STi's of the same MY (can't think why...) which is indeed catless. There are less restrictive centre sections around and I'm sure PE do one.

...you also loose some bottom-mid end torque (grunt) in favor of some top end gains....(narrower torque curve higher up)

Hi mate
Hope Stephen's page helps you: http://www.steve.ukmail.org/car/.
AFAIK PE manifold helps in low-mid end torque.
Do a search and you'll find good comments about JUN's manifold:
www.junusa.com/parts/exhaust/headers.htm.
