The gearbox/ torque converter disengages when going round a right hand bend.

I have an MY98 Auto sport, which has done about 150k.

A problem developed about two months ago, then disappeared the day after, but it has now come back with avengence. Everytime I go round a roundabout or a sharp right hander, the engine revs pick up and drive is lost, the car slows down or I finish cornering and the gear re-engages and it drives off fine. Every other function in the box works (power mode, kick down, pre select 1,2,and 3) I have not tried to replicate the problem in reverse!!!

Any ideas?

I have phoned Subaru in Twyford and the had never heard of this problem before. The guy suggested a new(re-con) box will set me back about £1600 (not sure if that is fitted or just for the box!!!!!)

First port of call, Have you checked the oil level?

 

oil level for starters definitely.

I dipped it when the problem first occured and it was upto level, and appeared clean... It should have been checked a couple of weeks ago when the car had a cam belt change. I will check again in the morning when it is light...
