Default problems clutch or gearbox..??

guy's is there a way of tellin if my
gearbox is gone, or if the clutch has had it

the car goes into gear with the car turned off
but will not go into gear with it running

when it happened, there was no burning
smell or no clunking around,
its just stoped going into gear
so im guessing its the gearbox

anybody know somewhere in essex
help...

Could your gear box fluid be low?

Wouldn't make a difference when stationary.

I'd guess it won't go into gear because clutch is dragging for some reason. In my case because the driven plate has broken up. Definitely the clutch.
