Question

I have recently been to look at a WRX Sti type r v limited and was wondering if it should have a black coloured intercooler as all the others i have seen have been aluminium type. also should this model have headlamp washers?

Thanks

George

Welcome aboard George,

The intercooler should be in silver and it should not have headlamp washers.

Cheers,

Wrexy.

This site might be of interest in knowing exactly what model you're looking at if you're in any doubt. Check the model codes against the car. You'll also find more detailed spec spreadsheets in the iwoc site. For me it's an absolute must if your're looking to buy an import. I'm sure there's more than a few "STi's" going around that are not.
Cut an paste the link below.

Hope it helps,

Alan

Thumbs up

Thanks for your help guys, After reading this information I can confirm it had a model code of GC8E2DD, it had the adjustable centre diff and i/c spray, the car was for sale at £10500 but it requires a set of windows, after being vandalised, which if i buy would put the car out of my price range. It also had holes cut in the front bumper for headlamp washers (one was missing) and the interior fan didn't work, apart from that it looked good, 30,000 miles registered in 97 and in sonic blue, Do you think its worth the asking price?
Thanks again

George

my 2p worth.
well it seems a good price for what it is, being in the most desirable colour as well. However it seems like the car has had a rough life. Any scooby owner worth his/her salt wouldnt let such a nice car go into such a state. You dont say if this is a private sale or a dealer.

As with any car of this nature, it is vital you get a vehicle inspection on the car by some1 who knows their business. Theres a lot of twisted rubbish out there and u wont wanna b lumbered with a dud. I have had the RAC do my previous inspections, believe me they ALWAYS find something wrong which is handy cause it off sets the circa £150 charge come deal closing time.

Good luck, and remember if u not happy theres plenty of scoobs for sale, so dont just get it cause u think you wont find one as good elsewhere, you will.

Cool

Hi,

I'm thinking of selling my '97 STI v3 TypeR early next year. It is sonic blue and has all windows and a high documented mileage, as well as various mods.

If the mileage is correct, it sounds like a nice project(original japan 'tint' glass could be a pain to find)

I was thinking of selling mine for £10K, might ask for more now....

Glass is not a problem.

If you were to buy the car your windscreen cover would sort it and you need only pay the excess. You could get P1 glass quite easily through autoglass and it would not be tinted which frankly is better.

I would say avoid it as the intercooler and headlamp washers make things sound iffy.
