Hi All,
I have a Subaru with 575BHPish- It is currently fitted with a 5 speed gearbox with PPG straight cut syncro 1-4 gear sets, billet selectors and a quaife ATB LSD.
Im not sure I can live with the gearbox wine/noise on a day to day basis.
So I was contemplating changing out the straight cut syncro gearsets and fitting Helical cut syncro PPG gear sets to 1-4.
Or
I also have an STI US spec 2004 6 speed with DCCD and rear diff. I know this will not take 575bhp for long.
My questions are:
1. Will the Helical PPG gearsets take 575bhp?
2. Any recomended gearbox builders?
3. Does anyone make upgraded helical syncro gearsets for the 6 speed box?
Any constructive information will be most welcomed.
Thanks
SleeperSy.

I sent a mail to PPG regarding the torque rating for the helical kit and got a rather unhelpful - it should handle 500 to 600 bhp but if you are doing launches etc, we recommend the straight cut... so I guess the question is what you are planning to do with the car in the future....
How long have you been running 360ftlbs as I have 340 and my box is a bit winney on run down on 3rd and 4th and it's only been running that for 6 months (cars 3 years old having covered 28K) and not been driven hard/had track days etc.
