Default Diff problem.

Hi guys ,

First of all my car is a MY99 UK TURBO, I seem to have a problem, after driving say for 30 miles on a motorway and the car is up to temperature. The rear diff seems to grab when going around tight corners, mini round abouts or parking. I sounds funny but you can "feel" the diff grabbing. i have changed the oil in the rear diff when I got it(1yr ago), so that isnt very old, has anybody had any experience with this problem?, and what was the cure?

Cheers Matt

Is the rear diff the stock unit or has it been fitted with a plated limited slip diff?

Far as I know its a stock diff. How do you identify a plated diff?

A plated diff can be checked by jacking the car up off 4 wheels, and rotating the one rear wheel.
If the other rear rotates the same way then the rear is a plated diff.

I think the var will have a viscous rear limited slip diff which could be the problem, but you very rarely hear of this esp on a stock UK turbo power level.

Had a problem with my centre diff recently, take everyones advice on here and ring API they are the dogs......

In the long run it could save you alot of time and more importantly money....

Got mine sorted quickly and for a good price it's on its way back tomorrow...

Best advice anyone can give you, give them a ring, they are very helpful and straight to the point no expensive guessing like some mechanics i've experienced...
