Default Rear Driveshaft info

I'm in the process of fitting a R160 4.4 plated rear diff into the long suffering rally car. I might be going over some old ground after reading earlier threads but by the look of things I cant use the original rear driveshafts especially the osr with the longer splines for the original diff.
Thanks
Huw

hi huw
quite correct about the osr driveshaft, the longer part is used tyo drive the viscos part of the origional diff.two things to watch for.no1,the ciclip grove in the diff and the drive shaft linr up correctly(allegedly there are three different possition options for the groves...been there got the teeshirt!)
no2,when you have fitted the diff check the nsr inner driveshaft joint plunge.
i had 2 driveshaft failures because i was told to fit the short shaft to the nsr, turned out i needed the same shaft as the osr!hope this helps a bit and not confused you more
cheers neal

Just so when my navigator calls 5 4 3 2 1 Go.... and we dont sit there looking stupid at the line going nowhere!!
cheers

I have literally just been through this lot on my Hillclimb car.
You must not use the viscous shaft!
I did and the OSR jumped out (clip did not fuly locate in diff groove) and BANG
Get the right shafts from Welcome to the API website Call for David, and say 911 sent you.
The diff are gold dust and you dont want to risk it.

There are indeed 3 clip positions, and this is correct:
22B Bulletin Board: Snapped a driveshaft today with 380 x 360

Go to page dated 30 March 07 for the pic of what you must have.

Raced this weekend on slicks with drag starts, no probs.
