I want to increase the performance of my MY01 WRX. Objectives are to increase performance to circa 240+bhp and improve torque to 230+, max budget £600. Current options being considered are:
Full Exhaust system - Magnex
Superchip - fitted by reputable company
Unichip - fitted by another reputable company
Any advice appreciated, have already considered and ruled out PPP and Link as they are too expensive.
cheers

With the money that you want to spend on your car i would have to go for a full Scoobysport system with de-cat. You really have to start with the exhaust and then take things from there
I have got a uk300ppp with full de-cat, APS induction kit & dump valve and at powerengineering not too long ago i got 288bhp with 266lb/ft

Definitely full ScoobySport system including up pipe, and ITG panel filter for starters. Scott is being modest - this is worth about 250bhp.

My brother knows one of Possum Bournes (Australian Rally Champion) WRC car, chief mechanics. He says avoid the UNICHIP (APS - Australian product) as the boost is too great for stock pistons and internals. He is having to fix too many of them that have these chips.....Better off with a Possum Link chip...

Re the decat exhaust system - is there a solution to the check engine light issue
Re the unichip - my understanding is that the boost level is not factory preconfigured but adjusted by your installer to suit.

Im running a unichip on a MY01 right now, but with a Blitz boost controller. My maps are all load based so no problems as long as I don't exceed the amount of boost I have fuel for. I have a set of STI VII injectors, they will be fitted soon and the car will be dyno tunned.
Here are my mods fo far:
IHI VF22 350
Vishu Catless up-pipe
BPM Single cat turbo back exhaust
K&N Panel filter with modded air box
Denso IK22 plugs
Greddy high pressure radiator cap
Blitz DSBC EBC
MRT Larger top mount IC
Silicone IC piping
Vishnu tunned ECU using a Dastec Unichip
Footwork:
Cusco Zero1 coilovers
Whiteline Rear swaybar w/ poly bushes
RevLab rear alum end links
17" OZ Prodrive 1 wheels
Kumho rubber
I installed an Apexi intake last night, I had to turn boost down to 13psi as I was running out of fuel. It will be getting retunned this week off dyno. Then next month I will fit the STI injectors and put it on the dyno. I'm looking for 280+ wheel hp.

Oh, ahh, the intry is enlarged. I shoved a plastic PVC pipe in there so it pulls air from the wheel well. It's was nice, response increased big time, a smigen more hp. The Apex is nice. Lag reduces a little, revs faster. Way loud though.
