I have a 96 wrx and the pedal sticks on it most of the time. I took a quick look at it and it's nothing to do with the clutch itself or the linkages (I removed the intercooler to take a look). I think it's the spring thats inside the car on the clutch pedal. It must go soft but it's looks a nightmare to change. Anybody and ideas, surely someone has fixed this problem before!!!!
Thanks

OK guys its a very simple fix.Remove the intercooler and look at the clutch release arm there "should" be a spring between the arm and a small bracket just underneath the throttle housing.
What normally happens is the spring breaks and then when you accelerate the clutch pedal sinks tho the floor.
Heres the part number 30456AA030 any Subaru dealer will be able to supply one of those

I fitted a new spring and has made no difference. I think there are 2 problems the first one is for people whose pedal sticks under hard acceleration and I reckon it's the spring under the intercooler.
The second problem is the clutch pedal sticking most of the time and I reckon the cause is the spring inside the car on the clutch pedal.. Has anyone ever changed the spring inside the car???

Ok the other thing to check is that your clutch pedal freeplay is correct, you should only have approx 10mm of freeplay at the top of the pedal.Adjustment is carried out by loosening the 12mm locknut on the clutch master cylinder pushrod and then turning the rod itself.
Hope this is of help guys
