Default CRUNCHING WHEN SELECTING 4th GEAR ON STI TYPE R 4

Hi, I went to see an Version 4 Type R on the weekend, came accross a potential problem.. any advice on this matter would be very much appriciated!!!!

Symptom:

when driving in mormal to fast speed, changing up from 3 rd to 4th, there is a crunching/ grinding sound and the gear stick is a little bit reluctant to go go into 4th gear due to this. However if you are just coasting in neautral and then put in 4th gear, it works fine. There are no problems with any of the other gears. The car has only covered 52k miles.

Is this problem 4th synchro?? Any Idea on costs to fix???

Thank you in advance!!!!

Not really "safe" as each time it crunches the gear, more metal is floating around in the oil, which then deposits in bearings etc....longer it goes on, more work required to get the gearbox "perfect" again.
