I think you will find (if your car is stock) that the car has a normal viscous centre diff with no front lsd (called an 'open-diff') and the rear diff will be a viscous unit.
The same oil goes in the lot, all the same.

Graham

Which cars had viscous rear diffs?
Sure I read most non STi's / Ra / r's were open rear diff?

I need a 4.11 rear diff for my JDM wagon as it's whining and wasnt a LSD unit, STi's viscous coupling diff or even a plated diff, depending on availability and cost.

My g'box type is TH752VB3CA, so a 1.0 transfer gear and 4.11 front diff, so I expect a 4.11 rear diff ... front diff is open but spec I have doesn't state rear diff type!

Any help?

In my search through the 'Rear Diff Jungle' for my Sti it seems not everything is written down.
What (I think) I know is:
Sti have visc rears/open fronts
Sti RA have plated rears and open fronts
WRX have open everywhere

4:111 are more common than the 4:444 and the above are R160 diffs and all have the same driveshafts and hubs.
Now: The open rear diff cars COULD have different driveshaft on the N/S rear. For a visc diff that drive shaft has an extension (about 25mm) of another spline to engage with the visc cartridge.

A visc diff look horribly like a plated diff to a layman (ie me) so beware.

The Type R (basically 3 doors) have the stronger R180 diff, different driveshafts and different hubs and are all very rare of course!

Your code above must be a typo error and should be TY 752....not TH.

In my painful experience, the only way to be sure of the diff is to remove the back plate.

If/when i locate a plated 4:444 diff I will have 2 visc diffs for sale!
Both are R160's so will fit, but one is sort of spoken for.

It is much easier to get a 2 liter Imprza to deliver 700 bhp than finding diffs, and just as expensive

Yeah, was a typo, is indeed TY752..

Found some 4.11 VC LSDs ... whether mine has an LSD or not it's getting one in a week or so, aong with a 1 piece prop and maybe rear wheel bearings/hubs/drive shafts, fdpending on what my noise is due to. Even if it's a rear bearing on the 'box!
