Default Which Clutch for V5 Sti Type R

I am being offered a brand new Fast Road Stage 1 Organic clutch. It was purchased from Techiclutch for a 98 UK turbo.

Can somebody tell me:

1. Will the clutch fit my car?

2. Will the clutch be adequate for the car? It is mildly tuned, approx 300hp. How will it compare to the standard type R clutch?

Thanks in advance,
Wes.

not sure if it will fit , but what price are you willing to pay for it

the exedy organic from APi are rated at 400 lbs/ft torque and are very reasonably priced

i have had 2 now, but the first was from somewhere else and for some reason totally different to the APi 1 , first 1 slipped after 4000 miles but this 1 now has lasted 8000 so far, thats with alot of heavy use/launches/ drag strips/track days etc .

and APi give warranty ulike the place where i got the first one from.

Mark Cook [ Cookstar on here ] managed to wreck one of our Exedy's on a Bug eye WRX. But he has got; size 12 feet. It was replaced FOC last weekend even though fair wear and tear was not obvious. Size 12's were

He'd also fried the flywheel but as that was his original he paid up.

Total cost £100 for the flywheel - no labour, no cost for the clutch.

Carl, Standard procedure is that the manufacturers reserve the right to examine any clutch [ or any other part ] allegedly faulty before agreeing any claim. That is normal with anything and any manufacturer, not necessarily car related.

As far as we are concerned, if it is likely to turn into a dispute and the manufacturers refuse warranty, it is quite probable that the customer would refuse to pay for the replacement clutch after one has been fitted. Thus we are out of pocket by one clutch. We do not like having to pursue unpaid bills and chasing customers, so to safeguard our position a new clutch must be paid for before the warranty situation can be decided. Once agreed we will refund the cost immediately to you.

I have to say that so far [ two ] we have had full success in making claims.

' Cookstar' on here had a completely fried one and we got that passed and replaced free of charge, although his flywheel was also fried ands he happily paid up for that to be replaced.

I cannot do anything for you if you sit back. If it wants fixing then lets get on and fix it - no point driving around in a car with a slipping clutch.

David APi

However, if you have now been driving around with it slipping for an amount of time then it is quite popssible it will get thrown out as abuse, because of the damage that has occurred whilst slipping.

I find it hard to believe that you are having big problems as we haven't heard a word fromn you in some long while. Normally if something is considered wrong customers keep pestering until something gets done.

Maybe different companies work in different ways, but the last time I had a problem with a product (brake discs) I had a replacement sent out to me before the faulty ones were collected. No quibble, no extra cost.

In saying that I'm impressed with Exedy clutches and wouldn't use anything else.

Dazza: My secondhand Exedy Organic clutch has lasted just over 18 months, 16,000miles and about 200 hard launches.

Eventually killed it on the strip by launching in 2nd and not giving up the race

Just ordered the same clutch again as replacement.

Yeb agreed. I'm using a AP racing organic clutch. Same good reports about Exedy. Only 2 options in my opinion. It can handle some abuse.
