Hi people
I have an sti4 type r, and at low speeds have a noticeable bearing/whining
noise from the gearbox, its not seriously loud like a wheel bearing noise, but definatley happens at 20-30mph,it seems to be more noticeable in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, when driving along at higher speeds you
cant hear it, do diff bearings or any other bearings in the gearbox have a
tendancy to fail, any help would me much appreciated, also what is the
realistic BHP and TORQUE these gearboxes with DCCD can handle,
Cheers

Hi, so you think it may just be the characteristics of that type of the
close ratio gearbox, probably nothing to worry about, hopefully, do you notice that it does it in 3rd and 4th at low speeds aswell?
Or would maybe a different viscosity off gearbox oil help?
Cheers guys.

I also have just bought a Sti V4 Type R (v-limited) and it also whines. The previous owners said it just was like this. It got serviced in japan after the auction.
Anyway, i checked the gearbox oil and it was below "min" hole level. So i immidiate changed gear oil. But it still whines. Someone said the lever should be over the "max" hole. Shifter got immidiate easyer to shift.
I previously got a wrx, vich got cured for whining i 5th gear when i topped the oil a bit. I guess the 4th and 5th is the first one to take damage if you run with a bit less box oil. So top it up!
(sorry bad spelling, live outside UK)
got a friend whit a STI V4 type RA with the same gearbox code, but havent got answer on the phone yet how his box sounds. Ive driven the car, but cant remember.
