Hi,

I have a 1993 jap import WRX, it has done 71700Km on the original clutch, I went to drive it this morning, and found that the clutch peddle was incredibly stiff when pushing it down, it also creaked when being pushed down, selected first OK, then trying to find the biting point, its about 2 inches from the top of the pedal travel.

Driving appears OK, no slippage, in 1st on pull off right up through 4th gear, did not get into 5th.

Anyone any ideas ?

Is it the clutch, the clutch cable, both, something else ??

If it is the clutch, what is the recommended replacement nowadays, is a lightened & balanced flywheel worth it ??

Cheers in advance.

Barge.

AP, available at Scoobymania.

I just had mine fitted, and am very happy with it.

It doesn't feel a lot different to standard, except that the pedal pressure seems if anything a bit lighter, and the engagement is slightly sharper (but that may be just because my old one was slipping...)

Woodgate garages in Devon sold me AP clutch kit for £363 including shipping. They seem to be the cheapest. Now got to have the thing fitted.

How much did you pay for it and where did you get it done matthew, i know your area pretty well so if its local..... my ppp has only done 15K but think an AP is the only way to go - other than trade it on for the RB5 my mate is trying to sell me...!

Cool

Barge,

Bit of advice m8 (word to the wise) get an STi clutch they r the biz, i had an AP Racing paddle clutch previously and it assisted in fuggin 2 gearboxes The STi jobbie is a bit more canny than the paddle and possibly as effective (just allows a split second for the synchros to catch up) so not so hard on the gearbox.

If u get a L&B flywheel watch which 1 u buy, I had one with no ring gear (the teeth were machined into it) so when it broke it did it big stylee The L&B flywheel revs a lot free`er than a std but looses momentum a lot quicker when u clutch
