Does fitting a catless downpipe(for example a scoobysport one) invalidate the cars warranty, if so which bit? I heard a rumour that it affected the engine warranty, but i'm not sure.

Also, what are the chances of getting overboost on a PPO'd MY00? when fitting one.

Have spoken to a number of main dealer service departments about this and have had differing reactions. Most dealers aren't too fussed about exhaust mods, as long as you leave the engine alone. If by fitting the downpipe a failure is caused and can be proven to be caused by the said pipe, then you will officially not be covered by warranty. Some dealers said that even if the d/p caused a failure, they would honour the warranty if the original components were repalced before it was reported. Essentially, I think most dealerships are on the side of the customer, so if you're sensible, and leave the engine alone, you should be ok.

Interestingly, one dealer mentioned that they had never had any problems with exhaust mods, but had had quite a few MAF failures due to repalcement air filters and induction kits. That's certainly one to think about..

Hope that helps,

MS
