Converting Pascalls to brake horsepower
#2
ps is not pascals.
pascals are a measure of pressure.
I dont know exactly, but I would guess, 1 PS = 280/276 BHP.
I think PS are actually an SI unit, that is why they quote torque in Nm.

leone, I was saying that I think PS is actually an si unit in the same way that the japanese quote torque in Nm which are si as opposed to lbft.
Most compaines now give power in ps. Ford certainly do.

The watt (W) is the SI unit for power, it is derived from Joules (SI unit for energy) per second (SI unit for time!)
I'm not sure if the PS is an SI unit or a DIN (Deutsches Institut fur Normung - German Institute for Standardisation) unit.
1 PS is 1 metric horsepower = 0.735 kilowatt = 0.986 horsepower

of course the watt, joules per second, hence german cars being kilowatts.
How stupid am I?
oh dear, my physics professor would not be happy!
pferdestarke? makes sense. Why do the japanese quote a german word for horsepower when th germans use si units for power?
