Has anybody seen an AP clutch for sale cheaper than Woodgate garage £355 ?

Beware, borg and beck also do a "cheapo" replacement Impreza clutch if memeory serves me correctly.
This is different to the AP Racing clutch which is nominally rated at 310 lb/ft Torque handling capacity.

oh dear, looks like I'll be needing a new clutch before I even build my new engine.

Yours is already a different clutch Adam, that torque figurewas for the single plate clutch.

We are currently talking with AP about developing a 350lb/ft (ish) single plate clutch.
