Default Newage FMC intercoolers on Ebay

It looks like there are some newage equivalents to the Hybrid FMC on ebay.

I won't put the link on, but has anyone ever bought a FMC fro the newage that was not from the likes of HKS, APS etc...

Just curious to know about fit and quality.

Go to Projects section and search. All you need to know is there, plus pics on fitting a Harvey Hybrid.(just done it but on a classic)

That looks like the one.

How did you find the fitting?
It does look a bit low to me, but is that down to the big black part at the top of the air intake?

Have you had a comparitive remap/look at the intake temperatures?
Is there much more lag?

i have been looking into a fmic for a newage car and most fmic remove the bumper beam and give a flimsy replacement but the hybrid doesnt remove the bumper beam so thats why i assume the intercooler sits lower on the car !! but your front end will be sooo much more safer

I picked it up yesterday so no map yet! needs to be run in it does sit low, but no lower than the splitter thats on the car, i didnt fit it, API did, i do know that it was a pain if you want to raise it up a little....which they managed i believe.

I dont think the APS bumper beam would be flimsy as rich says...the fronts pretty stiff anyway.

before the fmic ( not tested much since) found it to be good as long as you keeps moving, get caught in traffic in the summer can see stupidly high temps on the psi3 ( 70 degrees is the worst i ve seen)

a heat shield should work a treat but as the car dosn't see much daily use i havn't bothered

I PM'd the guy, but he says its a new kit, so he has no fitted pictures.

The APS has a total core size of 19,600cm3, that one has 13,700cm3 and looks to fit the same, the APS is rated upto 700bhp. No that Ill ever get that far.

Has anyone got any pics of the XS one?

i have a hyperflow FMIC on mine, that replaces the bumper beam too, and sadly it was put to the test a few weeks ago, intercooler squashed but the beam and front end all held up fine, and i am about to get another one
dunno if i would like the idea of a cheap ebay kit tying the front of the car together tbh

IMO i dont think the hybrid is cheap and cheerful by any means the quality of the product is first rate.....personally i think that most frontmounts will perform very similarly when put side by side....i couldnt justify spending the extra 600 odd quid on an APS one on the basis of "its expensive so it must be good" style of thinking...

Only when you get to VERY high output applications as in 550+ may a few little design differences affect anything (pipework lengths etc), i wouldnt expect to see an alarming difference if two different FMICs were set up on otherwise identical cars, would you?

Hol are you running standard sti injectors?

Sorry Neilo, just noticed your post.

Full details of the spec are better viewed here (excluding the watrer injection that has been fitted since). http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthrea...&page=12&pp=30

As you can see, apart from chassis modes since I bought it, all credit is due to Bob for the stunning performance and drivability.

Just like to add that i bought a FMIC very similar to that one recently. The hardpipes lasted about 2months before they exploded into corrossion.

Paint them with something rust inhibiting!
