I have a Subaru Impreza GC8 WRX from 1999 and I am changing my gearbox (5 speed) for a Jap Spec 6speed gearbox of a new Impreza GBD with Suretrack diffs.

Many people tell me that I just need old parts of my old gearbox (like clutch and flywheel) but that I will need a rear diff with 3,9 final gear ratio and a new propshaft.
I have a rear GBD suretrack diff but everybody teels me that this do not fit!

So I am searching for a rear Suretrack with 3,9 final ratio for my rear diff and I need the propshaft to???

I can only find this store http://www.rallispec.com/sub_drivelsd.htm (it is the one that say AP Suretrack Rear Diff). Anyone knows something else??

Please help me because I do not understand nothing about this subject and I just know that I have my 6speed gearbox + suretrack rear diff 3,9 final drive but from the new Impreza, so I do not know what I need or have to do to fit this parts in my car.

Hi, You will need a 3.9 ratio rear diff of the R160 [ small size ] If you have the one that came with the JDM 6 speeder it will not fit, as it is the R180 [ large ] size and you will need to change ALL of your rear axle assembly [ hubs, driveshafts, discs, calipers etc ] to make the R180 fit.

Also, it will be very hard to find an R160 with a limited slip fitted as it was never sold that way, except for the RA and then only one year of that model.

3.9 R160 is easy enough to get, but it will be a free diff usually.
