Default Paddle clutch and gearbox strain

Does the use of a paddle clutch put extra strain on the gearbox? my new one has a sprung plate(?) so id hope that it would slip a tiny bit?

any official line?

why do you need a paddle mate? You can get strong organics now

mainly because it cost half of the organic! , and to be honest its just a bit of an experiment. I wanted something that will hold 400lbft without complaint. (which i appreciate some of the more expensive organics can).....but i havent got X-hundred quid each time, so i thought id give this a shot.....if its pants, then i havent wasted "that" much cash.....however, if its not, then i may have saved myself a few beans...

does that make sense?

I had a paddle in my hill climb 911.
The centre was sprung to cussion the judder and ****** engagement and road driving shunting you get in general in the transmission.
A paddle without springs will tear a roadgoing box apart as well as tire the driver out on the road.

The springs have nothing to do with slipping, just adds refinement to a very vicious clutch.

I took the paddle out of the 911 and fitted a stock Sach clutch and never looked back but it doesn't have 400 lb ft!

Graham.

For a road car, go for an organic clutch that is up to the job. An AP Organic uprated is such a clutch for that torque from personal experience. There are other alternatives for less money, some from the USA.

Have an AP organic in my hill climber Sti v3, really nice road manners and no slip after big 5500 rpm 'dump the clutch' starts for 2 racing seasons.
Makes sense.

Graham.
