Default 95K and Piston slap - how long do I have ?

MY 97 UK Turbo. 95K miles and I get piston slap when cold for a few minutes, I know it's a standard feature but am wondering how much longer I have and what will go bang first.

Standard engine with good servicing. Not burning oil, flew through MOT emmissions test.

Thinking of fitting high flow sports cat down pipes, but will lay off ECU upgrade to keep stress on engine down. Should I forget about the exhaust mod too ?

Cheers

Ran a MY98 with decat downpipe, PE ECU (18psi boost) and piston slap from 65K miles to 115K miles with no problems.
