Quick - driveshaft removal!!! help again!

Default Quick - driveshaft removal!!! help again!

Hi all

as youve seen i got gearbox probs, im in the middle (well trying to) remove my old nakered box tonight.

1st prob - how do you remove drivshafts from the box?
any other probs or a quick guide appreciated asap!!! as im getting a box tomorrow and need this one out tonight!!!

driveshafts from the box

knock out the plit pins and pull the shafts free


it really is that easy

undo bottom ball joint using a spanner for the nut and to hold the thread still you insert an allen key up the thread you may not see the hole as it could be filled with mud mine were .next remove the dowl pin that prevents the shaft from comming off you need tap pin remover or i think the hole is bigger than 6mm so anything 6mm or smaller to knock pin out . then lift wheel hb up i used trolley jack and bottom ball joint comes undone , then drive shaft pulls out . i think that was all , hope this helps also removing gear box oil will make the box lighter for when you lift it out and stop it from pouring out when you remove the rear drive shaft good luck .

You don't need to undo the balljoint and release the hub.

If you've got the gearbox subframe undone, then you can do as Micky suggests, and punch the roll pins out of the inner CV's, then move the box to one side of the transmission tunnel, and at the same time release the opposite inner CV from the g/box stub axle

all sorted last night!!! never done one before, took us 3 bloody hours!!! (with lots of brew breaks and chosen swear words!)

All i need now is a gearbox TODAY!!!! why aint life easy anymore? i even have the fresh smell of cash waiting

but no - one has what i want as usual!!!

Im after a g/box with code TY754VB then either 1AA or CBA

i've got a 93 wrx box and diff for sale. the box was brought as a replacement and only used for a month while my 93RA box was rebuilt. pm me if interestead.
