Exclamation The side effects of DCCD

In February I ordered a STI 6MT DCCD conversion from Dave at API Engines. On my very first trackday event thereafter, I learned the side effects of DCCD the hard way:

Movie: http://home.online.no/~hans-mah/MY98/dccd/dccd_spin.avi
Right Click, Save Target As... DivX, 5.2 Mb.

As Neetronics haven't finished their DCCD-controller yet, I'm running "open diff". Very fun, but obviously a bit too much too handle (for me) when it breaks loose. I think I'll have to adjust the rear ARB to a softer setting as well

The front toe is now incorrect, there are also some misalignments between the hood, lights, fenders etc. It'll be put in a jig on Tuesday to check the chassis, I hope it isn't too bad.

Been there, done that.
We did some 1/4 mile sprints in the rain with the diff locked (12v directly from the battery). Unfortunately the fuse popped propably due to the rain during the sprint and this is what happens when powershifting from 3th to 4th
Click (9.53mb)

i've also mailed neetronic's that i wanted to order 3 controllers but never got any answer...

With the conversion finished, I had spent close to £3500. I bought the gearbox, driveshaft and a complete rear differential. This includes 25% Nowegian VAT, shipping, some tools etc., so somewhat more expensive than purchasing in the Uk I guess.

I'm getting my car back from the garage today, after having it repaired after the "incident" above. The car was put in a jig and found to be crooked at the front left corner. I was fortunate to be strapped in a 4 point harness, so I didn't actually feel the force of the impact myself. But I could judge from the sounds it made that it was a hard hit, so I didn't really expect to be able to drive away when I released the clutch.

I'm having a 4-wheel alignment done shortly, that'll tell if the suspension is damaged as well (hope not!)

As for the DCCD controller, this is the last reply I had from Neetronics: (~1 month ago):

"I want to sell you the product but one of our customer has the beta unit and discovered that there is a bug in the software we are working round the clock fixing the software. Since you are so far a way I don't want to send you a unit that has any bugs in the software. Sorry about the wait but I want to get it perfect before I send it to you. So you won't have any problems with it.

Hi David

The Diff controller is $399US plus tax plus shipping to the UK. I will check
to see how much shipping to the UK is. If you can send me your postal code I
can get you a exact price on the shipping.

havign read up on it, I am not altogether impressed with the controller. It wasn't the clever type affair I was hoping it would be.

I would rather hang around for the active scoobysport one.

Adam, I think it's more aimed at people retro fitting DCCD to their car who don't have the exisiting ECU and controller that you do

Guy's don't forget that GEM's do a Diff controller,This is fully mappable,so it's pretty much active.Also you can have manual lock ups ie,25% 50% 75% 100%lock etc.
