55k miles on my original clutch, replaced when 4th gear syncro had to be changed under warranty...probably still had another 20k miles to ago.

Power/Torque (Torque being the real clutch killer) grew from 220/225 to 250/260 during it's life and abuse would be around the 7-8 region

A useful comparison for those interested.

Ap 4 paddle clutch
Power 400-550hp
9000 Miles with plenty of life left.
Off the abuse scale
Off the judder scale

how can you tell the clutch is on the way out-isit the bite point rises or revs not dropping on dipping clutch?

Revs rising faster than they should in a high gear for the given speed, sort of like inverse wheel spin usually accompanied by the smell of cooked clutch!

Original clutch lasted to 124,000miles.. was definitly the original..

abuse then was about a 6 and power about 260-270bhp.

Replaced with a Borg and Beck and since put another 40,000miles on it with an abuse of about 8, it has been up the strip about 10times.. but I do have some mechanical sympathy.
oh and power is around 320-350bhp since that clutch went in.

BHPower - 406 BHP
Miles - 30000
Abuse - 6

Pulled out and still OK at 30000 miles. Not all of those miles were at that power, but the last 15000 were quite reasonable.

>400 lbft with 2.5 with 240mm (6 speed) RCMS/AP organic. First plate did 14000 miles and had oil contamination when it was removed and sat in a pool of oil. Second one is at about the same no problems. Heavy clutch pedal but very smooth and progressive, no judder.

Clutch changed at 30k before i got it. it now has 96k on the clock. abuse 5-8 depending on mood. my98 uk turbo 208bhp.
i smell the clutch a lot, especially when driving hard or when it is cold, is this a sign that its on the way out. its not over revving or anything.

MY00 - 3 in 30k miles - major judder from new
Drove 100miles (M3, M25, A1M) each way per day for 9 months
Then had a JDM MY95 for 30k never replaced the clutch, but it was on it's way out at the end

Not a hard driver, just 'press on' when safe
