Default Sick Sti

Great forum,
but I have sad news.
I purchased my Sti just over two weeks ago1998 Jap import, without doubt the greatest car I’ve driven until Saturday morning.
The problem is when I turn the key, the car starts for around 5 seconds the cuts out,

I have checked the Clifford Cat1 immobilizer and that seems to be in working order

I took it to a local garage and they are unable to find a fault engine side of things, unsure about electrical?. I finally given in and a local Subaru dealer towed her away today for inspection.
Has anyone come across this problem before?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Best Regards

Joe.

is the fuel pump getting power when the engine is started? it may be the maf sensor, is the check engine light on? (CEL) if so, it's very easy to read it, no tools needed, I know that it is on the early ones, but not sure if it's on the facelift. any way, hope you get it sorted and welcome to scoobynet.

Thank you for your reply Adam,
the fuel pump is getting power and I performed a fault check
:- CODE PROBABLE CAUSE, Code 12 Starter Switch or Circuit

I told this to the local mechanics but they where unsure, I’m at a loss and skint!!! Hope this doesn’t go into the Hundreds/thousands

Once again thank you.
