Default UK300 PPP

A friend has just bought this car, and is already wondering what he can do to make it go faster!!

Am I right in thinking that its basically a UK WRX PPP Special Edition, meaning it will give around 265bhp with the PPP??

He is set on getting a downpipe for the car which I said was a good idea. However, I've been reading things about getting a S/S Up-Pipe too, is there a CAT in there, or does it help gas flow..... Never thought about fitting one before thats all so I'm interested in exactly what advantages it has over OEM Up-Pipe.

The car is a MY01.... with a de-cat system, will he need a CEL plug??

He will also fit a Walboro 255 Pump when he goes for a full de-cat as he wants to avoid the engine going bang due to lack of fuel from a dodgy pump which he suffered from in his old MY99.

What sort of power can he expect if he fits:

De-Cat Downpipe (In addition to Prodrive De-Cat centre & B/Box)
Up-Pipe
STi Panel Filter

Would 270/280bhp be a reasonable guestimate??

Cheers,
Grant

IIRC - The MY01 PPP only produced about 245 BHP with the old piggy back ecu. The newage 2003 onwards WRX PPP's use the ecutek software which raise the bhp to approx 265 bhp.

A full decat on a MY01 will probably produce about 265-275 bhp.

It is definately worth changing the up-pipe at the same time as the downpipe - I think the centre section is in 2 pieces also, the PPP removes the cat/resonator (can't remeber which) in one of the centres.

I wouldn't bother uprating the fuel pump unless he has bigger mods planned for the future, ie turbo, injectors and a TEK3. I ran a tek 3 and full decat on the oem pump with no problems for about a year.

The CEL will trigger with a full decat, a CEL fix is about £50.00 but they don't always work - I had loads of problems with my CEL after the decat. A tek3 can remove the problem or a SECS might be a good investment as it can read the CEL error codes and reset where necessary.

Hope this helps

Chris

I might be wrong but if you now get the PPP fitted to an MY01 you get the same 265ps package as the MY03>
