Default Gearbox Suitability.....

Would a gearbox from a 54 plate WRX fit to a MY96 Type RA with the adjustable diff ??

The markings o nthe box i have been told are ... 9R TY754VN5AA.

Nope!, The VN has a 1.1:1 drop gear set and the RA [ which is JDM ] has a 1:1 drop gear set.

You can't mix VN & VB boxes.

Your choices are likely to be:

Anything VB with a 3.9 : 1 final drive ratio - If your RA box is number TY752 VB4BA or VB4CA
