Default Cam cover gaskets

I need to change my leaking o/s cam cover gasket,i've got all the seals, washers etc and was looking at the amount of room (or lack of) there is to spin my spanners etc.

Has anyone done these before and if so give me any pointers as to how much i need to move out the way and whether the cover comes out the top or bottom, cheers Mark.

hi mark theres plenty of room to remove the cam cover remove the air filter box and the rest is easy as long as your fingers arnt the size of sausages and remove it from the top best done when hot so you get the full experiance of knowing what its like to be a proper spanner monkey

As bikerthou says.
Take the airbox out and its not too bad. On the pax side remove the washer bottle for access and maybe the battery (if you have big hands) Covers do come out the top with a bit of wiggling. It will leak oil all over the floor/headers, but it's only what was in the covers.
Getting the new seals to stay in place when refitting as a pain. (use some sealant to glue it in).

Quick Tip,

Place a thick cloth over the up pipe when removing the drivers side Cam cover... It saves any excess oil covering the up pipe when you remove the cover and the smell of buring oil for the next week...

And another

you will need a 10mm ring spanner to undo the bottom right cover bolt on the passenger side cover, all the others can be undone with a 1/4 ratchet...
