wouldnt it be cheaper to just buy a 2nd hand turbo, as there will be no performance increase as far as im aware, plus if its ok why recondition it ????

Cant recon the IHI ball bearing turbo cores. New one will cost about £450.

As has already been said, get a 2nd hand, low mileage one!

I sent my IHI back to Turbo dynamics, mine was smoking under boost quite a lot. They replaced the seals, balanced it, sand blasted the exhaust housing, sprayed the actuator for me etc etc ...£240 all in.

I dont believe you would notice any difference unless it had serious problems to begin with.
