Piggy-back ECUs
Hi Folks,
First of all, allow me to introduce myself as this is my first post.
I'm Phil Spratt. I have just ordered my first Scooby road car. It's a 94 WRX RA and I can't wait to take delivery. I'm also hoping to get hold of a 2004 GpN Impreza rally car later this year to enter the British Rally Championship in 2006.
Anyway- onto my query.
I've seen piggy-back ECU mods that tell the ECU that the air in the intake is cold, therefore changing the mapping to give a little extra power. They're less than a tenner so look like a good buy at face value.
What are your thoughts about these? Are they rubbish? Has anyone had any bad experiences with them? Any risks?
Would appreciate your advice to a rookie scooby owner!
Cheers
Spratty

email the ebayer lots of technical sounding question like how it controls detonation, knock correction, ignition advance/retard, boost control in relation to airflow etc...etc... and you either won't get a reply or they will say 'Not suitable for your application'
As David say's... A con and just a resistor and some wire.
