Hi BigChris350

Depends on what you want in the end. I run 325BHP on an Sti Top Mount, these are reckoned to be pretty efficient. Second hand STi TMIC's can be had for about £250 on a good day

AFAIK all FMIC's need the bumper cutting, APS ones allow you to keep the OEM foglights though.

Hope this helps

Chris,

If your ultimate aim is a car around the 350bhp mark, you should be able to get away with a bigger TMIC. If your aims are much higher than this, you may need to go FMIC.

I wouldn't worry about cutting the bumper too much. Second Hand bumpers are available for 50 - 75 quid. Just buy a replacement if/when you return your car to standard.

No obviously....

What is a '**** load' to be done on the Scooby? I.E Can you be a bit more specific of power goals etc? How many miles do you do per year? Budget?

That kinda thing.

Also bumpers have to be cut as Martin says for most front mount coolers. The ones that don't I would avoid personally. It's not a hard job and selling a car with a front mount isn't an issue.

Will take a good bodyshop 2-3 hours to cut and fit if required. Or take your time and do it yourself. I find a Dremel tool is essential doing this for a tidy job.

Unless you use the Lateral performance FMIC/rad combo. This requires no cutting at all of the bumper and AFAIK is proven to the highest Torque worldwide.

Temps are lower than any other kits i have seen also.

You can get 356bhp out of an STI Top Mount Intercooler and a little bit more.

Pace is generally considered pants for anything over 400bhp as Tone says.

Daz.... do you really want to spend £800 plus (isn't it about £1100 inc vat ) on the pace to achieve 310bhp??? Your standard top mount can take that easily.

I wouldn't buy it for the looks either..... thought you got out of that stage after taking those bl**dy lights off . Change parts on the engine, especially important parts like the intercooler, for performance not looks. The pace is ****e full stop. You can have far better performing products for less money (hybrid FMIC @ £550 or MRT TMIC for similar ish money).

So does the Lateral Performance FMIC/ RAD combo. It also doesn't need the bumper cutting but is much more efficient than the pace item.

As has been said though, for your power figure of 310BHP, you don't need to change the intercooler. Spend that £1K on other items that will actually help you get the power level you are looking for.

There's nothing wrong with the std radiator to well over 500bhp in typical UK ambients.
I'm a top mount fan personally although I'm not aware that they have been tested much beyond 550 bhp
