Question MY01 WRX. Life after PPP?

Hey Guys,

Once i get my 4 year service done - decided its time i upped the anty a bit... now have a company car for the working miles so the PPP has got to go... need more power

Suggestions please - thinking of flogging the PPP and going for a decat (sports d/p with the sport cat - dont want to fail MOT) with something like an ECUtek map...

Anyone got any recommendations and experience of the difference between this and a PPP (i.e. is it worth it?).

Cheers

Jza

you could do with changing the up pipe aswell - or you could go of headers

best bet is to talk to the person who maps you car,

the most important part is the remap - BR development come highly recomended

Uppipe
Downpipe
STI 565cc Injectors
STI VF35 Turbo
STI 2003 Model Intercooler
ECUTEK Remap

330bhp and 300lb-s torque.

Done it on a few cars now.

The real limitation to serious power is the turbo, changing that to something substantial will trash the gearbox, £1800-3000 for a six speed to sort that, plus a decent clutch, brakes, suspension, intercooler, fuel system, along with the usual induction and exhaust mods.

So maybe worth planning on whether you are going to stick with the breathing mods/ECU remap or go bonkers. I wouldn't bother changing if you want to keep a cat of some description and are not planning on changing the turbo. I don't think the gains are worth it, <10% is hardly noticeable.

I failed to mention porting the standard headers oops! Obviously with the PPP standard centre and backbox keeping.

Do you think the WRX engine is strong enough for this sort of power also did they need anything else changed

Cheers

I have done it on 3 cars now (4th soon )and yes the WRX engine is good for this power PROVIDING IT IS MAPPED RIGHT.

Don't bother with induction kit, panel filter did just fine.

This is the limit I would personally take the WRX engine to. Can go more.....

Nothing else was changed. Standard PPP resonated centre and PPP backbox was perfect. You could do backbox if you wanted (Used a Scoobysport 3" on one car) but it is personal preference. Whilst the Scoobysport flows better than the PPP, at that power it isn't essential at all.

Wow that sound good stuff - thanks for the reply!

Roughly what sort of costs are we talking just as a matter of interest ?
