Smile Engine swap

Would a uk MY97 engine fit straight into a MY99 uk turbo.
I am led to believe MY97 is phase 1 and MY99 is phase 2.what are the differences between these 2 engines? Is it a case of changing the heads and inlet man? would ecu need to be remapped?
thanks in advance - Leon

Put simply; No! The 97 will fit, eventually, with ingenuity. But the problems are many. Loom is different, position and type of various senders differs. Heads can't be swapped as the compression height of the pistons differs. The inlet manifolds won't swap as the bolt pattern differs.

MUCH easier to get the right engine.
