depends on exactly what he has done??
blown a gasket sounds more like he is assumuing the head gasket has gone, however i personally wouldn't describe this a "blown" engine.......................could be very straight forward or hugely involving and the cost will track the same course??

some more detailed info would assist your friend in making the choices he has.......................

He said some like, it had got water into the oil seals and the engine seased up

However speaking to him, he wants a new engine, so where is the best place, to get an engine, with a garrantiee?

Thanks Very Much Phil
