Smelly clutch, is it knackered?
We got our MY93 Type RS yesterday. We took it out for a blast and noticed nasty clutch smell on hard starts. On normal changed on full throttle its fine, its just if you hammer it in the lower gears that you get a severe whiff of clutch. The car should be running around 300bhp in a couple of weeks.
Ive not noticed any slip. Ive a few questions:
1) Should I be budgeting for a new clutch and if so what sort of labour time is involved in fitting one?
2) What do you guys run, AP?
3) Is anyone running an RPS clutch kit?
Thanks

When tuning a old car, always check the drivetrain before doing anything. If the car had several other owners I doubt they have driven it inspired :-)
On my old car I used a carbon clutch. But that is overkill.

... or ...
it could be the rear crankshaft seal leaking oil onto the clutch - fairly common. I think mine is doing it just don't have time to investigate.
BTW, AP Organic is popular with the hillclimbing crowd. If it's good enough for them...
