Question Help with Downpipe removal Please.

Hi all. Got to take off downpipe tonight. Car is '94 WRX. Disconnected the back box already, but not yet looked under the bonnet. Downpipe appears to go from back of turbo to start of back box, inc cat, all in one piece. Will the turbo have to come off first, or does the downpipe come away form the turbo, leaving the turbo in place? Any pitfalls to look out for, or order of dismantling proceedure. Any advice gratefully accepted before 4.30pm.
Cheers,
Mart.

hi mart, the turbo stays in situe, you dont take that of...on the downpipe there are 2x17mm nut and bolt on the top,and 3x14mm nuts on the bottom of downpipe once you have the metal shroud out of the way, spray some wd40 on the nuts and have a cuppa as they can be quite tight, then refitting is the reversal..hope this helps..pm you

My mechanic said to tighten and untighten slightly until they free off.
After a good soaking in wd40 of course.
