Hi
My gearbox has starting to whine when accelerating in second and slightly in first ,garage said a bearing is going and need a new box.Problem is out of warrenty.I have no problems changing gear just this whine,sounds like i have a straight cut first and second.Anybody has simular problems.Can you get a uprated gearbox?

Why not just replace the bearings? Have you tried changing the oil?

 

The oil was changed 4 weeks ago.The garage said the labour would cost that much i am better to get new one

 

Go to a gearbox specialist and get a quote. This gearbox is very easy to disassemble and should be a straightforward job after removal from car. Better to get your own gearbox rebuilt than accept a service/exchange item also.
