Default Biiig service, Clutch and go faster parts 'darn sarf'?

Hello chaps, long time no speak

Due to me being well out of touch of the scene nowadays I am hoping that some of you can heavily help me out in my time of need .

Basically as some of the 'old hands' on here know I have a 95 STI 2 that I have owned for 2 years now. I had a 94WRX before that that cost me many £0000's in incorrect repairs thanks to the ruthless conman/men behind the 'Old Scoobysport' . All I can say to that is THANK GOD I met Steve Lawson when I did or god knows how much longer that farce would have gone on...

As soon as I bought the STI2, I had a super service done on her along with the addition of a lot of parts and a RR tune all at the same time courtesy of PE. Since then, bar oil changes every 3k miles, I haven't touched her and she has never missed a beat. 19 miles later I think she is starting to get a little miffed with the lack of TLC and I would like the works done again. I don't need peeps telling me off regarding the servicing, I simply haven't had the time or the money to stick to schedules.

Back with the old car, I had a service and a load of bits done by Subaru4you for a good price and a very good job, but I cannot get hold of them nowadays to save my life

Right, starting to cut the waffle down I promise

I am on about 49k miles and want to get the following done ideally service-wise:

Cambelt change (Absolute must)
Spark plug change
Poss coil packs (already replaced by PE)
All belts inspected/replaced if necessary
coolant drain/replace
Diff/Gearbox fluid drain/replace
Check engine mounts, wheel bearings, brake hoses, basically anything you can think of at all across the engine/car and advise regarding replacement

Basically I want to get the whole shibang done, as I don't know when I will get another chance tbh. Right, with the service bit out of the way, onto the repairs:

Pretty sure that there isn't much clutch left so I will need one of these fitted too

When new speedo fascia was fitted into the dash, somehow the centre console and dash lights got borked. The rear numberplate light seems to be linked to this too. So basically no ligts inside the car or the back numberplate at night.

Injector purge+Boost solenoid purge too please

Me being an Animal, I pretty well threaded one side of my BOV and have never had it rethreaded etc and it does need it as I believe the seals are not holding perfectly.

She still seems to suffer from what I call 'Kangaroo Fuel' where on full power in the higher gears, she seems to fuel cut and then immediatly kicks the power back on. This is a far more common occurance in the winter months and according to the boost guage she hits approx 1.3BAR She seems too happy fuel-wise and tries to add too much boost perhaps? /Me know nothing

When PE did all of the work on the car, the Boost guage reading no longer zero'd correctly. I cannot for the life of me find where it is connecting to the engine and it seems to be electric/electronic, not a simple air tube to the guage.

The manifold assembly I believe is rattling, really between 3-4k revs, this started just last week and is what has really egged me on to get her sorted. the right driver's side heatshield cracked on the old one and I removed it, but when I looked under this one, it wasn't there lol. Unless I am getting my sides confused. so I may need a heatshild bent out/removed too.

With that out of the way, I really would like to make her quicker, especially since I have got the other half a nice cheap runaround now The current spec is here:

95 Impreza STI 2
H+S Downpipe with 3” exit
Blitz Nur Spec ‘R’ exhaust
Apexi Super Afc (old Style with manual *****)
Blitz BOV
Ohlins suspension
Black Diamond Grooved&Vented discs all round+Green Stuff pads
Mobil 1 Motorsport Oil
Optimax & Millers octane booster used since I have owned her

Basically I would like an idea of what might be the best things now to get more power from her.

Please bear in mind that I really would like to get all of the above done for 2.5K (3 Absolute MAX) including a nice chunk of that being for power mods. I don't have credit cards ad infinitum etc or earn a lot of money, so I really have to use those figures just mentioned.

Am I on cloud cuckoo land? I am in Farnham, so in an ideal world a decent, recommended 'one stop shop' around 'these parts' would be nice, but saying that I am going up to Leeds on Saturday, so if I had to drop her off no higher than Nottingham for example, that would be OK too. I really need to find some/a company that don't completely overcharge for their work, but still take pride in it and don't con customers, as I have been hit hard far too many times due to my love for cars

Sorry for the length of this post guys and thank you very much for your time .

Cheers,

Nick

Hi there, thanks for that but I have already mailed him at the 2 addresses that I have for him. I haven't had a reply in 3 days or so and want to get the ball rolling.

Can you give me a link to your website, or if you have the time send me an email with what you think you would like to do do to the car subject to the thorough service. If you do then please mail mrfootlong at ftaclan.com . If not I understand and I will approach you guys myself

I am more than happy to try pastures new so to speak.

Cheers,

Nick

Nick, I know Steve Lawson, nice guy, knows his stuff. He's at Toyota tech service [ dealers only] Redhill these days.

We charge £360 plus VAT for the big service, only extra cost is for plugs and ancillary belts, otherwise all is covered [ oils, fluids, filters cambelt, etc ].

There are 3 options of clutch from us; cheapo, factor type, Subaru genuine £212.00 or competiton organic by Exedy £300. Exedy make ALL manufacturers clutches in Japan and is the basis of the AP Racing organic version, fitting for the clutch is £160.00 All figures plus VAT

Otherwise l'd like to either see the car to advise best [check out the strength of the engine etc ] or a longish chat on the phone to get a better feel for the appropriate improvements.

Our website is nearly there at the moment, A staff member, who administrated our site, left us in less than perfect circumstances and crashed our site. He'd actually been hosting vital pages away from our website space providor so we lost control of them. We expected the crash but the bugger had us cold. Never mind.

The remains of the old site is still there on www.apiengines.com which will be the address of the new site due to launch any day now.

Perhaps we should talk.

Yes, I am still good friends with Steve and he is loving his current job, which he fully deserves IMO . He asks me the occasional question regarding overclocking stuff and I do the same with car stuff His current company car is a tad nicer than his old car too lol (I didn't say that as he actually didn't mind it hehe)

Hmmm, so if the engine checks out then you would be able to get hold of a fair choice of power parts then? As you say it is difficult to decide going on the strength of the website sadly, but having an engine specialist check over the engine is very, very tempting as I am not the world's slowest driver by any means but very rarely ever go over 3 figures due to the 'Kangaroo Fuel' effect.

I have to be honest too and say that I have been considering TSL and Scoobymania, but I have no idea without bias from ppl on just how good/ over priced they are. I think I will have a chat with Steve hehe

Thank you very much for your detailed and quick responses so far, much appreciated

Booger, forgot one last niggle with her.
