Ok to get 2nd orange on a knocklink?
Just fitted my first mod to my new toy ( sti 5 type r ), and trying to be sensible I made it a knocklink. I wound the sensitivity up to max and took it for a test drive.
In third and forth I can't get it past 2 greens but in fist and second i've seen it go as high as the second orange. Is this too high?
I'm running it on optimax with no octane booster at the moment and as far as I'm aware its on a standard map.
I've got a walbro fuel pump and fpr to go on next soon to be followed by a decat and hopefully an apexi power fc, should these help the situation or am I simple setting it too sensitive?
What do you think?

max sensitivty on the KL is a good thing
check Harveys recent KL threads to see why....
2nd orange isnt TOO bad imo. but just ease off the right pedal when it lights up.
do you get oranges on WOT (wide open throttle) or rapid throttle lift off ?? (or both? )
imo- Jap imports are supposed to have a better chance of not going bang if they have a remap to accomodate 98RON. Some disagree tho
if it was my var, I'd remap it pronto, and crank up that KL sensitivity

You could have the Engine monitored with DET cans to confirm whether it is Detonation or could try adding Octane Booster to see whether the KL 'activity' ceases.
Ultimately a remap would be the best option.
As already mentioned the sensivity is best left on maximum
Cheers
