IMO you can't go wrong with the STi filter from Scoobymania or Japanparts.
Very good build quality & noticable improvement.

Agreed - fitted on mine. Wouldn't bother spending anymore. Seems to be highly recommended by a number of people now. Totally safe and won't kill your MAF. See various other threads for similar comments.

Chris
Will this go in my 03 sti?
Does anyone know if this filter works well with the PPP, ie does it upset the setup causing spiking or leaning off etc.
I suppose cos it's an sti part then it will be warrentee friendly.

got one on my MY02sti and its great you can really feel the extra breathing at the top end nice wheezy/induction noise aswell not loud but just there

warranty wise hmmm difficult one it's a japanese part not sold in the uk thru dealers however my dealer said that if it has a subaru part number on the item is fine.....

you pays yer money ya takes ya chance i guess

mines still under warranty and i still use the sti one.

It's an official Subaru part - I think they would have a problem claiming the warranty was invalid. You have to fit parts of equal or better quality and seeing that the panel filter is designed for the higher performance models, I can't see there would be an issue. The STI filters are available for all models.

ITG filter in mine Mike, but I may try the green cotton filter when I visit Xtreme for a 30,000 mls service(not due yet though).
Have you made any more thoughts as to what to upgrade and what manufacturer to go for?
Cheers

I found a noticeable improvment with the MRT Group N filter (Scoobymania). I have also tried ITG, HKS and Blitz panel filters on an MY01 WRX with no noticeable improvement. I currently use an STI filter on my04 STI and will probably stick with it...although again, no perceived performance improvement or difference in noise. The MRT one seemed pretty good, but did exude some gue that I had to clean out of the airbox....never caused me an issue though.

With all those mods planned, John had better get spending again otherwise he will fall behind in our race of "See who can go broke the quickest".
