girlfriends bmw compact will not start this morning, just a loud clicking when the ignition is turned, is it battery or starter motor. also where is the starter motor positioned. any advice would be greatful

sound like flat battery, light left on or some thing ?? Alan.

no lights left on. i'll try jump starting it with the subaru and check the alternator.
