does a ECU Break??
If you jump start a MY93 WRX are you likely to break the ECU? Thats what the garage has just told me so they've sent my ECU of to be checked. What could go wrong with it and how much is a new one?
What do you actually mean by jump start, letting it roll down a hill and letting the clutch out (bump start), or getting power from another car with jump leads (jump start)?
AFAIK the jump starts shouldn't cause any problems provided the correct procedure is followed. Not sure about bump starts though, I could see this may cause problems on a modern electronically manged car.

I believe you have more of a chance of damaging the donor car.
After starting the car with the duff battery, you disconnect the jump leads and at that point, the donor car was providing a large current in to the flat battery. It takes a finite amount of time for the alternator to adjust to the fact that the load has just disappeared, and this surge can zap things. Some people recommend stopping the donor cars engine before disconnecting the leads
