Question can anyone please tell me what different colour springs do to a dump valve?

bought a 2nd hand Forge VTA d/valve which has a red spring already fitted and a blue spring spare.
what difference is there between the two?

what works best or is it purely that they make different noises with no 'performance' difference?

cheers

it will release earlier in the rev range. if its the same as the one i had then the blue one releases pretty much all the time, and the red on above about 5k rpm, or the other way round, its just so you have choice, thats all.

the red spring is the stiffest then blue, green and yellow the weakest, they are to tune the dump valve, if its dumping to much pressure on part throttle.I had upped the boost on my car so had to use spaces as well as the red spring to control the pressure release makes no difference to noise or performance.

cheers mate so if i fit the blue one, as soon as i back off the throttle i will 'pish' all the time? can't be having that, it'll drive me mad!

bit of trial and error methinks!

yeah, i got that impression myself, still not 100% sure about running a VTA, but to be honest i think it's gonna **** me off long before it does any damge to the car

just seem to be going thru a 'want to make as much noise as possible' stage at the mo

TBH I would only ever run the std DV as its what the car was designed for, does the job and doesn't make a song and dance about it either

yeah, personally i had a forge vta one for a while, then took it off again, its a personal preference thing.....some people say that it can cause over fuelling a bit....which i guess could be true, i didnt have any adverse effect with mine, i just took it off because it wasnt "me"

Question when will i know?

fitted it this morning and can't say i can hear to much while on part throttle. chuffs okay like it should, but no extra noises.

been running a full decat for ages now so i've got used to the piffs and paffs and whooshes from the wastegate, but apart from a couple of good pops from the exhaust, nothing out of the ordinary,

c'mon guys what's the big mystery?

PMSL, would this be the correct time to suggest refitting the standard DV?
