Uprated Internals
Has anyone uprated anything inside there engines as I have got my MY98 engine in many pieces and wondered what would be worth doing whilst it was apart?
Totally standard at the moment.
Thanx.

ande,
It really depends on what you want to achieve, and what your budget is.
If you're not intending on increasing the power to circa 400bhp, but want to stay at circa 300bhp, standard internals will be fine.
If you decide to up rate the internals, then forged pistons and rods, up rated bearings, modified oil pump, would be the parts to start with. Most important though, is getting the engine re-built by someone who knows what they're doing.
Mark.

i would have to agree, you know what? forged pistons\rods\crankshaft isnt a bad idea, esp since it will make the motor a lot more robust, but keep in mind you will be paying more for it, i know there are some variances with the GC8 vs the GDA+ motors, i beleive you have the EJ207g? i'm not quite sure if it is semi-closed or a closed deck engine, but i will say from my research your capable of achieving sti tuning with lttle effort, well with the exception of the computer needing some sort of tuning, (possibly ECUTEK?) as well as the turbo....
like i said i agree with r19ket hes on the bll game with this, give this some thought since its already apart...
STi EJ207 Crankshaft w/ Tuftride Treatment
STi EJ207 High Strength Piston Set
STi EJ207 Connecting Rod Set (bolted cap design)
Subaru Bearings
Subaru Piston Ring Set
Computer tuning
Larger turbo
Sti Injectors
Fuel Pump
Some of this information was garnered from www.rallispec.com and www.racecompengineering.com
allin all its what you are trying to achieve, but since its apart, why not right? =-)
Cheers!
