DCCD from type R (RA) into STi3 wagon - questions
Im decided for DCCD conversion into STi 3 wagon.
Final setup would be: Front quaife, central DCCD, Rear diff will be limited slip (Cusco or simmilar clutch type) because I dont want to buy rear diff+shafts +hubs from type R.
Now the questions for skilled users are:
1) is DCCD direct replacement to standard central diff. from Sti3?
2) have Sti RA and Sti Type R the same central diff?
3) is the differential to gearbox shape connection model year depended?
4) is the lenght of DCCD the same like standard diff in the sti3?
-------------------
Or if I want to do the conversion on Sti3 what kind of DCCD (RA or R, MY97-00??) i have to buy? And what other parts? (propshaft?)
Thx

Phase 1 gearboxes have a different centre diff assembly to the phase 2's. The actual centre is not interchangeable between the 2 housings, but I don't know whether an entire pahse 2 housing will fit a phase 1 box.
If you have an STi3 now, don't you have an R160 plated rear diff already? The one I fitted to mine is supposedly from an STi3, which was the last year before the move to R180 (I think!).

Dowser i believe to be correct, i know that a 94/97 uk box has different center diff shimms for the viscus center than the dccd unit in the sti casing.
By this i mean the dccd elctric diff is a different overall length than the viscus one of the 94 box.
As for the dccd part of the box being the same in ra and type r yes the two are the same and carry one part number for the two, it is perhaps obvious but the 6mt box has a tottaly different dccd and will not fit the casing of the 5 speed pre2000 my.
Hope this sheds some light on your questions, if not mail me to see some pics of the sti my pre 2000 dccd and viscus center diff....

Hi
type R began MY98 (v4),so i don't think sti ra v3 has the R180.
you must have the DCCD with his housing and drop gears and the rear and front diff must have the same ratio.
all the DCCD must be fitted in a phase 1 center diff housing,so you should not have problems with a v3

If I understood well:
My standard sti gearbox is probably phase1. I have to buy DCCD from Phase 1 gearbox (it is only Sti 3 type R or RA). Then only propshaft because DCCD has different lenght.
(Is there a possibility if type R sti 3 has Phase II gearbox?)
Im correct?
For dowser: standard Sti rear diff is viscous coupler device. (except R160 from RA and R180 from type R)
