Default Gearbox temp. sensor

Because I have bought an Ecutek monitor (same as the PSIone..) I have now a useless oil temp. gauge.
I was thinking of putting the sensor into the gearbox to measure the oile temp in there.
But where can I put the sensor in ?

Obvious place is to put it in the drain plug

Would mean you wouldn't have to remove the box to fit it, but might be a bit low if you use rough roads or have to negotiate lots of speed bumps.

Problem when putting it in the drain plug is that you'd almost certainly have to lose the magnet, which, on balance, would be more useful than knowing how hot the oil is.

If I was going to do it I'd probably drill and tap the opposite side of the casing casing somewhere underneath the front diff.

Losing that magnet is NO option, so it will be drilling then.

Thanks for the tips...

I understand that the temperatures of gearbox oil are in the same region as engine oil ? (between 80 and 120 C°...)
