Default MY93 WRX - acceleration problem

Usually in 4th or 5th the revs climb far quicker than the speed, sometimes it redlines before dropping back and climbing normally with the speed?

'Engine' mods are:- ITG panel filter, s/s exhaust, scoobyecu

As the others have said, slipping clutch. www.autospares-group.com and ask for a new Borg & Beck. Price has been fluctuating recently, at last count it was something like £130 delivered. Note that it's a complete unit, including thrust bearing.

Organic clutches smell of dog**** when you overheat them.

ADL Blueprint are also available from Auto Spares for about £170.

My mechanic would not let me source the Borge & Beck and advised to get the ADL.

Did he give you a reason for this Scott? It'd be interesting to find out if there's any technical difference...

No not really, he just seemed to screw his nose up at the idea of Borge and Beck.

I know I had one is my old Series 1 Escort Turbo a few years back and it used to rattle if you held it on the clutch (on a hill).
Although B&B did honour the garuntee and refund the price of the clutch and the cost of fitting a standard Ford one in it's place.
