My MY00 (51000 miles) has recently started dropping out of 5th gear - not violent, it just sort of slides out leaving no drive. Only happens on the over-run. Also I have noticed that if I hold the gear level when accerating/deccelerating I can feel some movement of (I think) the gearbox which I can't remember noticing before. My guess is either something worn in the box, or a mounting. Anyone know of any problems around there?

Hi there.

My MY99 has a similar affliction. Under hard accerleration, 5th gear 'grabs' at the gearshifter and crunches slightly. It just suddenly got like that two weeks ago. Car has 65000 miles. I'd have hoped for problems like this at 165000 miles TBH.

Awaiting a quote for gearbox repair...
